New armament for shooting

In other words I got me a new old camera to use.

I consider this pretty heavy artillery, at least it is for me.

I inherited a few really nice cameras/lenses and it killed me that I couldn't afford to use them because they are film cameras. So, I set about trying to figure out how best I could make use of them. Lucky for me, Sony must have been thinking the same thing.

About a year and a half ago I made my first foray into the world of mirror-less cameras and bought myself a Nex-7 and some adapters. This was a partial solution as being a crop factor camera it really wasn't exactly what I was after when using the old glass.

Well, after pinching pennies and mowing a few lawns for neighbors and such, I finally saved up for a Sony A7ii.

In my book, I'm done buying cameras, I think. This thing is blowing me away with the detail it shows. Focusing with the old glass is easy peasey as they say and I think with practice I'll be able to get the old glass to sing like it when they were used with film.



I'm having to learn whole new routine for looking at these pictures as my current software won't work with the new file formats. I'm slowly getting there though and with Brian as inspiration I hope to make some fine photo's in the near future.

I expected to see an image of a gun

It's wonderful to hear of persons using those "Oldie-But-Goodie" lenses. I had a 90mm Vivitar Series I, f/2.5 Macro lens that was about the sharpest glass I ever shot with. Certainly the sharpest manual focus lens!

Richard, I was given an old Vivtar 75-150 Macro focusing zoom w/Nikon mount, and it is outragiously sharp for being just a little old lens. I couldnt believe how nice it is.
Im really looking forward to using my lenses at their native focal lengths.

Alan, like Richard I was thinking of a gun too. In fact I was thinking of a rifle sight when I saw your title. Then I looked at both you and Richard's location and understood.

You are right to use them lenses for your experiments. I have not used an old lens on my new camera so I wouldn't know the difference but you seem happy with it, so be it.

Just like your's Boab, only a little higher serial number. A real hidden jem if you ask me. I don't have the matching 2x extender though.
