    Alan.

That is one beautiful quilt, really an piece of artwork.

Two things kind of bother me about the image though.

First is the uneven lighting - however that could simply be pretty well corrected withe Photoshop's Dodge Tool at a very low exposure...

Second is the OOF foreground - especially that the tools try to draw my attention away from the quilt itself

I wonder if you were able to have your camera on a stable mount and to use a smaller f/stop (I can't get the EXIF data so I don't know at which aperture was used) and/or focused a bit closer you might have been able to get more of the quilt in focus. I may have a fetish but, I can live with backgrounds OOF more readily than I can foregrounds...

    Re: Under construction

This was a quick grab shot as I walked thru our family room (which doubles as my wife's sewing room extension). I hand held it, it was slow SS (1/20?) and ambient light (a couple of fluorescent lights up in the ceiling), shot wide open I'm pretty sure so that would be f2.8. It was basically a 'see what I can capture quickly' without my wife getting all 'It's not DONE yet, you can't take a picture of it yet' on me. Know what I mean?
So while I do appreciate your comments I'll have to take them into account on the next shoot.
Glad you like the quilt, she's been working on it this week and is almost at the finishing stages.

Does your wife have a quilting machine? This looks beautiful and neat...

Izzie, I have more invested in the quilting machine than I do in my latest camera. Does that tell you anything about the priorities in our household?

Yes, it does...but she has beautiful garden too ripe for photoshooting...is your train still there?
