    Good catch Bernard.

The Green Woodpecker I saw today was too fast for me to capture, so well done.

Woodpeckers are a pest in my backyard and the house. One kept boring a hole on the side of our house. That one is dead now. Bill shot it. Now we have two more that pester the birds in my feeder. I researched woodpeckers because I want to get rid of them going outside of my den yesterday. Someone said some shiny metal and wet are what they avoided. I put some slivers of foil near my feeder and it only stayed away for a day. Today he was back. I called Bill on my phone and before he can get the gun, it was too late, the bird was gone. Then I went inside and told him that woodpeckers are protected species here in Missouri. But one can apply an exemption by filling out a form or something...

Anyway...in #1 which one is the lady woody, Benjy? I like #2 shot...that is the kind I kept seeing around here...

Izzy if you set up a second feeder with things that they prefer your problem could be solved. I can understand killing them to protect your house. But it seems a bit drastic to shoot them for bothering the other birds. After all you are providing the attraction of the feeder. I only have limited experience with feeders but up here the woodies liked the little bricks that you can hang on the side of a tree. I think with peanut butter. With Google and a bit of time you can surely solve your problem. And the woodies

Thanks for views and comments,Izzie these are the Greater Spotted Woodpecker, the female is the one on tree< watching the male do all the work > the male has red coloured feathers on the back of his head, they will eat the suet blocks if you hang them out,Bill,I,ve not seen any green woodpeckers here,I am usually on east side of Loch Lomond, met a chap out walking one day who said that for some reason the green woodpeckers stay on the west side of Loch.....

The one with the red on top of the head is what we have here in my backyard. Bill hurts his cornea a few days ago and his eyes are dilated until next week so the woodies are fine for now.

Thanks Dan for the suggestion. I still have one suet left with peanut for the birds. I will hang it tomorrow...

Would be fun just to sit and watch them come and go.
