I read the title and being interested in portraits at the moment, rushed to see who Lucy was
She's not what I expected, rather long in the neck, but those lips ...
Being serious, I like this Brian, I'm quite impressed at the Depth of Field and overall sharpness/detail, given the angle of the shot, etc.

I honestly believed that any living being could be in a portrait shot. So help me to lose some of my ignorance. Is there a specific name for this type of animal/bird shot?

Personally, I would consider that any 'head shot' of a pet (animal) is "a portrait", particularly if it excludes the surroundings (as your Lucy shot does). Originally Posted by JBW
