This is a beautiful photo Dean - I love it. What I might consider trying if it were mine would be to increase the lightness of the foreground (and increase saturation a little), while decreasing the exposure of the out of focus area behind your model.

But this is a nitpick and I would be over the moon to produce an image like this - well done.

    Re: Window to the soul

I agree that this is a very lovely image. Somehow it gives me a retro feeling. It could be her dress and very simple hairdo but, if this were in B&W, I could easily accept it as an image from the 1950's.

BTW: I tried this in B&W and, IMO, it is an absolute stunner! I actually like it a tiny bit better than the color image. I'll post it if desired...

    The eyes certainly have it.

There are many elements that could distract - if I could tear my eyes away from hers.

So the ideas proposed by Simon and Richard would be worth investigating, as improvements on what is a captivating shot anyway.

    Cheers, Dave

Dean, my first reaction to this photograph was it was to distracting on the left side, and some part should be cropped. After looking at the photograph for awhile I realized that my eyes immediately went to her eyes.
In short, this is an amazing photograph. One I wish I could emulate even if just half.

Two words, Dean -- timeless beauty!

It can be black and white and/or coloured, it is still the same as her dress made this so not to mention the textures of old wood that matches her dress colour. Of course the eyes have it here with the camera contact.

Just what everyone else said - Absolutely beautiful. The eyes are sharpened to perfection (zoom right in to them).

In the days of film, those eyes would have cost me a lot of money because I couldn't stop shooting them...
