    NEX Macro on the cheap...

I thought abour Bian when I saw this on eBay. But, he has already purchased the neat Tamron 90mm macro...

If I were shooting a Sony NEX camera and wanted Macro/Close up capability on the cheap... I might consider this setup...

At a total of $64 USD including shipping to USA addresses... This is really cheap! But the image quality should be quite good!

There is a plethora of Canon 50mm FD macro lenses available on eBay at really inexpensive prices. There is even a 200mm FD macro for a bit over a hundred U.S. Dollars. You should be able to use the NEX camera with that lens and shoot macros over in your neighbor's yard...

And I was just talking to James (Edwards) about the Olympus Tough TG-4 that has not only a macro capability but also a microscope shooting capability...and the price had gone down from $379 to $299...

Actually, my little Canon SX50-HS has a pretty decent close-up/macro capability

If the objective is "cheap" then you can do a lot worse than buy a set of Polaroid magnifying filters. They come as a set of four (+1, +2, +4 and +10 diopter) in a handy folder, and cost around £13 from the usual suspects (I got mine on ebay).

Here are a couple of images to illustrate. The bee was never going to be a great picture because of the fussy background, but not bad for hand-held (Nikon D7100, 1/320sec, f/14, +2 diopter filter).

The dried hydrangea flower is a studio shot, with the D7100 on a tripod, and with the +4 filter at 1/30sec and f/4. The aperture was chosen to give the fall off in the DoF.
