I just wonder, John, is this one of those scenes which would respond well to a more unusual wider crop for wildlife subjects; maybe something like 16 x 9 ?

Definitely a good image if you can lose a little from the top for a better composition.

Thanks both of you for the comments. You're right Geoff, a tighter crop might be better but it was meant as a light hearted post so I was a bit lazy I guess.

After moving this over and over again at lytebox, I was about to suggest a panorama style crop... Oh well....

And those oystercatchers can really cackle. Though in all fairness I'm not sure that one gender does so more than the other. They are simply noisy birds.
