    Grasshopper about 3 inches long.

I was standing on a rock braced on a wire fence shooting up into a papaya tree while i tried to not slip into the goose pond. it could have been sharper but it's pretty good colour.

Once again, searching out the bugs in the foliage pays dividends with nice light angles.

Great capture given the difficult circumstances to obtain it.

Sounds like this one would be way too big to fit the frame of a macro lens at 1:1, but then I guess you could take up 'bug portraiture' (assuming you can get close enough).

    Cheers, Dave

Great shot. Would've liked to have seen a little more separation from the background but I guess camouflage is their forte so... And the color does pop nice.

most of my bug shots are shot at about 6 inches from the front of the lens. Bug portraiture sounds good to me.

Hi Brian, very nice capture. Given its size and getting a good angle and retaining enough DOF is always a challenge. Having both antenna in focus is pretty good. (Don't think I've ever managed that!)

As regards sharpness, I'm not sure I would want to do anything. My guess is that any sharpening would actually emphasise the softer areas of the image and probably be counter productive.
If anything I'd maybe look to increase the vibrance of the insect and the twig it is on, slightly!
