Hi, I'm not sure how to start a new post, so I thought I'd put it here, I recently bought a Sigma 10-20 mm lens for my Nikon, every picture that I have taken with it appears to have a blue tint to it. These are two examples, taken on different days at different times. Any suggestions as to why the blue? I know i can fix it in pp but don't want to have to. No need to critique the actual pictures, lol.

Suz, yes, when I first joined CiC, I too was mystified about how to start a new thread. The trick is to go to the Forum's home page and then click on one of the discussion areas, such as "General Photography Discussion. You'll then see near the top left a button labelled "+ Post New Thread".

Others will be able to give you better advice about why the photos have a blue tinge but here's my two bits worth. It looks like it might be a white colour balance problem in your camera settings. Does your camera have different white balance settings?

    Hi Suzie,

Bruce has told you how to start a new thread, but to save you the effort this time, I have moved these to posts to a new thread for you.

The blue tint must be a coincidental/accidental change of the camera's white balance from the "AWB" (I'd guess) you normally have it on to "white fluorescent" (according to the EXIF data on first shot).

    HTH, Dave

yes, thanks to you both, this reminded me that I had changed the ISO settings so the camera would automatically adjust within a certain range. I'll change that and see how things look.

The White balance (WB) is actually a different control to the ISO Suz,

Changing the ISO will not affect the WB - e.g. it won't affect the colour of the pictures.

Except - I suspect that when changing the ISO, you might have accidentally changed the WB setting on your Nikon D3100. This looks to be easy to do; the WB is just above ISO and therefore next to it while you navigate with the "i" button amongst the settings on the rear screen, so if you had WB selected and spun the command dial on back of camera, it would have changed it (and I guess you didn't notice). I had a D5000 which set those things the same way and I know how easy it is to do.

You can see that in this animation from DPReviews look at the Nikon D3100

You should be able to work out how to set it back to "WB Auto" now.

When I started out, I found DPReview's web site a useful addition to the Nikon Manual for finding my way around my camera, in fact I still use it regularly to answer queries like this.

    Cheers, Dave

Suz...when uploading an image, can you please put a space in between one image and the next so that what we are looking at does not flow from one to the other...it will also be nice if you can number each of them...
