    Photography through rose-tinted glasses

This is a little self indulgent, but I have a new lens and so have been spraying around taking pictures of not very much testing it out. I quite liked this one though, even if it is a photographer selfie - one of the most vain and artistically challenged genres of photographs known to human kind...

The lens is the Panasonic 35-150mm cheapy zoom. It's surprisingly capable for the price. I keep building my m43 lens collection as good lenses are available at great prices, and I haven't touched my dslr in a month. It is tempting to jump into bed with m43 completely - it's not a big step in terms of image quality from apsc but my Nikon is a very capable camera.

Ah but a selfie on a grand scale. Interesting (and well conceived) if only to put a face to the author. - well half a face anyway.

Your forgot to tone down your blackheads...jump in bed with your camera? You reckon you still be alive the next morning? If my husband jumped in bed with his airplane -- that's it! He's dead meat!!!

Argh blackheads - I try to forget about them most of the time tbh. Thanks, I'll give them a swish with the anti-clarity brush.

The difference is that I could probably get away with sleeping with my camera, it's only little - I think you'd notice an aeroplane in your bed Izzie

Thats a pretty nice shot Simon, I think you've chose the DoF and areas in focus very well and the PP works for me.

Looks like you're enjoying your new lens, Simon. A crafty shot with nice use of colorization.

    Hi Simon,

Not what I was expecting from the thread title - better in fact.

Just need to work on the reflection so there's something more interesting/intriguing

I thought about that and will probably do something along those lines for a different pic - but the feflection would have become the main focus of the image and that's not what I wanted. I thought the geometric pattern (of my shower cubicle, incidentally) added interest without distracting from the face.

A friend of mine made a beautiful picture with her iPhone using reflections in sunglasses - it's one that has always stayed in my mind as something I'd like to recreate.

Not to worry -- I fly a broom .... Looks odd with regular pilots but my broom is special and faster than the speed of light.

My day yesterday was your fault. The girlfriend of my stepson has a collection of sunglasses in our car and when we went out to Mayfield (Ice Cream/Cow/Dairy factory) she reminds me of your rose coloured sunglasses shot. I think it is cute...
