Suggestions for getting more pop from the eyes.

I think the eyes are right on the border of the DOF, Brian. I dont know how to get them to pop more when they arent super sharp focus wise.

fair enough. from this angle the snout sticks out more than the eyes. (and as of yet I don't do stacking)

You could easily locally increase the contrast and sharpness of the eyes.

Does it improve it? That very much depends upon the care you take and how natural the end result is.

I did both. seems to me somewhere between our two efforts there's a sweet spot.
