Layers within layers within layers. Great shot Sam. There's more than a bit of a fantastical, ethereal feel to this shot. Maybe an opening scene from a scifi film. Totally cool, I like it very much.
I like the way the mountain upper LHS in the background rolls down from the corner and is mirrored by the foreground tree line rising up on the RHS, with the clouds and ridge line in the middle running parallel with each other. I think if you cropped the RHS enough to make the don't-center-images-in-a-photo people happy (if they ever are happy ) you would lose that upper LHS/lower RHS symmetry.
This one is a definite hanger in my opinion.
Sam, in my opinion you achieved your goal.
I also like the many layers in this image Sam, very nice. I was in Wytheville the middle of last week and the mountains where fog covered in the morning.
Hi Sam
Great scene. Really interesting, and the composition, is great.
Nice shot. I think you succeeded.
Hi Jack - I tried the cropping you suggested. As you thought the revised symmetry does not work for me. I also think that posting larger than 800 pixels makes the image to large to see it as a whole but more like parts of an elephant which works sometimes but not on this one using my monitor. I also often wonder/worry about images centered in a photo and the rule of thirds from the stand point that on occasion a better image can be achieved by breaking the rules. So I test them and going only by my gut feel. In this case the silo is not exactly centered. Oddly enough, what I like best is the positioning of the silo to the barn and the barn to the little cow. The cow being so small in the print I think no one has seen yet. Thank you so much for your thought provoking comments.
Sam, this is an absolutely beautiful shot. Nicely composed. And for you to note, yes, I had seen the little eenie teenie weenie cow by the side of the barn as with my photography study I like to notice every inch of every image I want to study and guess the settings too.
Wonderfully complex and interesting image...
Majestic shot!!!!
Oh, no. Saw this on my phone earlier and was eager to see it on a big screen, but some (thought best left unexpressed) is playing games with us, and has replaced Sam's photo with something less beguiling, to my mind at least. Mods?
Janis - this is a recurring issue with TinyPics. They delete images that have limited viewers and recycle the URL. Unfortunately, the servers around the world don't refresh at the same time. It sometimes takes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours and sometimes even a couple of days. Eventually things get straightened out all by themselves.
There really is no rhyme or reason as to why some people see the correct image and others do not. Just be assured that neither Sam nor TinyPics have been hacked.
Oh, sorry for the false alarm, Manfred. Thanks for the explanation. The image fit the caption a little too perfectly for me to imagine it was an accident.
