    Lying in state

Taken a few weeks ago at Nathan Phillip's Square in front of the Toronto city Hall.
There is a garden area with tiered seating among the flower beds that faces and is separated from another area of plantings by a long, wide gravel walkway.
I was standing at one end of the walkway when I noticed a man lying on a bench at the opposite end. In the horribly contrasty light the subject was silhouetted against the lighter background. I liked the composition and grabbed this shot.

    Eobert,

I don't remember how you felt about editing but .........

Removing that ground level row of bushes behind the figure makes quite a remarkable transformation.

Robert, a very fitting title. I looked at the photo before reading your intro. I thought it was a cemetery monument of some kind. Especially with the flowers in the composition.

    John, Lew and Sergio,
    Thanks for the comments.
    Lew,
I don't mind editing at all.
I'll make the change in Photoshop and see if it appeals to me. Thanks.
