My morning as a VAL with Fashionista & Friend

Some of the members who know me, may recall that my best friend passed away from cancer on Christmas day.
Her son is a keen photographer and his mother encouraged him in this regard.
He is currently doing a project where he gets up to photograph the sunrise 6 mornings out of 7 until he has 365 sunrises.
This is a way he can remember and connect with his Mum in spirit and deal with his loss.
At the end of this he is going to make a book & have it available for sales in time for Mothers Day next year.

He has asked for friends to come along if we have the fortitude to get up bright & early in winter and join him.
So my friendly fashionista and I took up the challenge last weekend.
I chose to just be VAL on this trip and work under his direction with our model.

and behind the scenes including me which also shows the rain falling quite steadily



and we chose this spot for the natural framing provided by the rocks



and then finally I thought I would share this last one, as he seems to have developed his photoshop skills along with his photography!
But I must admit I kind of like me like this



And finally, I think he chose this one as the 'sunrise' selection for that morning.

It was good to have a turn at being sort of on the other side of the camera, I can recommend it to any other portrait photographers as a good learning tool.

Kay...you always come up to something really nice and be proud of! Although the fashionista shot of your daughter are both good, I rather prefer the 'you' shots there instead. Just different. When I saw the second shot of you, I immediately thought "marlin!" so I googled it and I think I am pretty close...what happened to the fish? did it made it to barbeque pit?365 sunrises -- I hope he achieve his goal. Send him my luck.

Nice way to remember your friend and meet the coming day. Tell Aaron nice job and would be pleased to have access to his link. Some classical looking poses in his series and your efforts as assistance and impromptu model spot on.

Your daughter is definitely a stoic....you all wrapped up and not a sign of goosebumps on her!

As regards the marlin, that is a superb capture!

The last image which I believe Aaron is planning to use is really beautiful! I'm sorry for his, and your, loss, he is producing an extraordinary tribute to his mother.
