Lew,
Interesting example of how the other half lives.
I'd suggest cropping out the bottom part of the shot to about halfway between the bottom and next set of tracks, as this adds nothing to the story, and would put more emphasis on the important parts of the composition above.

Lew, breaks my heart to see this shot...'reminds me of many Asian countries been through.
Great example of how others live; both children and dogs...
Powerful environmental portrait, Lew. As has been noted so many layers with so much to see. With all the news of the dangers of railroad tracks, this seems to be their natural habitat. All the little details within the composition make quite an impact. Great story telling photo.

Thanks for comments.
No one should infer that the Burmese don't love and care for their children; that is the actually the opposite of reality. What is true is that the lower part of the society live in such borderline conditions that they treat, what for us would be a no-go area, as part of their larger home.
In the picture below, you see a raft of large bamboo. This bamboo is floated downstream from much higher on the Irriwady because roads are so bad and cost/profit ratio is high. An entire family will live on the raft for 3 to 7 days, making certain that the bamboo doesn't get hung up on shoals, rocks, etc. Once in Mandalay and the bamboo is delivered, they make their way back up river for another cycle.
(Incidently, these rafts are routinely intercepted and inspected for smuggling teak logs under the bamboo.)

I just googled your name and I came upon your blog. I will read some more in the morning light when I have time. Your blog looks interesting...
A nice addition, and very interesting.
I didn't realize you had a blog. I took a quick look at some of your photos. You have some great stuff there. I will be going back to take a read.

From what I had read so far this morning yes, your blog was an interesting read. I like tutorials and such, how things are done, how a picture was taken, etc...
