Joanna, Steven, Lauren and Jonathan at Steelcase

This shot was taken about 30 years ago.
Early one weekend morning a good friend and I took our four kids over to a large manufacturing facility and with me directing from across the street, the kids ran along the side of the building.
The early morning light cast their cartoonish shadows on the wall, and I got this shot.
And thirty years later, we are all still dear, close friends.

    Thanks Lew.

There are so many things to like about this image. It's interesting to me that the rectangular thing (I think it's a vent) in the upper right area of the image makes the image so much stronger than if it wasn't there.

I agree with Mike and, indeed, that is a wonderful piece of art. As contemporary today as it would have been 30 years ago.

    Mike and Donald,
    Thanks for commenting.
    Mike,
In those days the company I worked for did business with Steelcase and I was there on a regular basis. Every time I drove past this particular spot, I loved the strong graphic of the vertical lines the concrete, the blue door and the vent, and finally took advantage of it early one weekend morning when the sun emphasized the pattern in the concrete, and gave the kids their shadows. The vent adds a visual element that completes a triangle, so the eye goes from the door, along the line of the children, up to the vent and back again to the door. And as you said, without it, the composition is not as strong.
