Mixed feelings about it...gorgeous lady is a bit too creamy and the selection around the flowers is a little crisp.

Hi Dean, really beautiful lady & yes you have certainly captured her eyes/expression very well.
I'm just not keen on the arms/hands, they seem in an awkward position perhaps made more pronounced with where 1 is cropped.
I think a closer face & shoulder level would be terrific.
I hope she will model for you again.

Dean, for the most part I like the portrait. I agree with Kay that her right arm, and hand (camera left) appear to me as being in a somewhat unnatural position to be in.

Same here...beautiful face and all, she has that awkward position in her arms...must be uncomfortable. Do you even correct their posing, I wonder...or do you just let them pose by themselves. There is a Roberto Valenzuela course on Creative Live called Location, Posing, Execution . The free video shows a bit of how to pose your subject, the arms, the looks, etc. I will advise anyone to watch the preview of Anchor Points of posing your subjects. It is interesting to say the least.

    Hi all

I have to disagree on this one as she was very comfortable with her posing as it was her own. IMO, posing is never a comfortable thing to do. Maybe some very experienced models can pull it off but for the average models, every requested pose is tough work especially when you want it to look natural. I spent a lot of time watching and reading about posing techniques so that I can act out the pose for models to copy and it is very hard because what maybe natural to one model may not be for the another. The only way to achieve your favourite pose that you saw on magazine or the web etc is to show the model the pose and let her spend sometime to practice it in front of a mirror and hopefully she can pull it off looking naturally.

You have made an interesting point that applies much more than the posing of arms.
If the subject is the audience for a picture (i.e. you are taking it for her use explicitly) then her feelings about the pose - or the look or color -are paramount.
But, if you ask viewers whether they like it - you will almost certainly get a different result.

    Hi Dean,
I think you have nailed it here, by showing the full image.
The pose (terrible word IMO) looks much better when her whole body is shown, it gives it context and by seeing hands feet, the limbs have somewhere to go.
    I think it's really 2 different images.
Well done & I look forward to seeing more
