Got Milk?
For a variety of reasons, I haven't gotten out much this year so I have little to share. But here are a couple from March that I like. I lease my pastures out to a local cattleman since I no longer raise livestock myself. I always enjoy the spring calves. It's sometimes hard to get decent shots because usually when they are close enough, the cow will keep herself between you and her calf. Sometimes though, it works out.

Re: Got Milk?
Both very good but the first one is far beyond good! Great light and composition!

Re: Got Milk?
Both cool shots, Terri, particularly #1...I hope you did not break your back taking that shot...
The eye contact of the second one is also very engaging...Love them both...nice processing too if I may say that...

Re: Got Milk?
Well seen and nice. Clean cattle as well. The cows around here tend to be a bit grubbier than that.

Re: Got Milk?
Awww, Excellent shots. Nice eye contact in both of them. The little one looks so curious, and Mom just looks kind of sad. It's good to see these animals out in a nice field instead of shut up in a barn.

To go for that sort of composition takes vision and imagination in the first place. I'd suggest that there are very, very few people who would have 'seen' that image. I doubt that I would have .... and I grew up and have been amongst cattle all of my life.

Re: Got Milk?
I agree that both are quite good but, that #1 is superb both in its conception and its implementation...

Re: Got Milk?
Thanks everyone. I appreciate your comments. I am happy to say that I did manage to see the shot at the time which is many times not the case. This one, however, only has a slight crop mostly done to straighten it. Handholding that 600mm while squatting on the ground doesn't always produce a level shot!

Re: Got Milk?
I love that first shot, Terri. I could see that on a dairy company's advertisement.
