Lots of pictures exist of the bridge but I really liked the lagoon.

Lovely capture. I can certainly understand why you liked the lagoon. Love the way the light is accentuating the actions of the foreground fisherman. While the scene is telling me a story about the daily activities as well as intriguing me with the scenery, I keep finding my eyes drawn to the temple skylines on the left... pulling me out of the scene a bit.

Great shot - feels like it was taken early in the morning?

    Thanks.
It was taken at just about 6 PM; we had rushed to get to the U Bein bridge at sunset; slightly overcast thus the very soft light.

This is a slightly different version, perhaps a bit more 'together'

Hi Lew I prefer the first image. I would crop the empty sky a little bit to put the emphasis more on the lagoon.

Yes I prefer the wider view. That background is a bit hazy so it looks better being apparently in the distance and not being 'brought forward' with the crop.

If you do take a fraction off the sky you could lose the same amount from the right side; but not too much.

    Lovely capture...

I cropped this top and bottom a bit, added a TAD of structure globally and also a TAD of shadow control to the boat...

I might think about cloning out the figure on the spit of land - just the figure, not the spit!

    Lew,

both beautiful images. I have a preference for the first. The haze/fog in the background causes it to fade and diminishes it's importance while the triangle formed by the people in the foreground keep my attention and gaze in that area. The crop seems to lose that.

Definitely prefer the first version, Lew. It has a depth to it that is missing in the 2nd. And I think the colours of the first complement the story better than the blues of the 2nd, too.
