    The Lot

Just a scene that caught my eye, I was standing in front of a chain link fence and no matter how hard I tried couldn't keep the links out of the shot; so I lifted the camera above my head and used the LCD in LiveView to square up the shot. Processed to look as I saw it. I thought about cropping the foreground but that is also what I saw. Comments welcome.

Interesting image, but it does have that overcooked look. I can't say I've ever seen a sky that looks like that.

    Very dramatic, John.
Seems like it might need a slight rotation to the left.

Nice sky...Is this HDR-ed. Nice scene but why this building? Why not the caterpillar shaped one over the yonder or the one with the spire? Don't crop the foreground -- it is interesting in what it will come up later on in the peace when they finished -- another building perhaps? BTW, I like your pp...

Slight HDR look again but I don't dislike it. Right time of day, decent composition and a quite punchy look. Good image.

    Hi Izzie,

Time of day and location, I was too far away to capture the other building as I only had my 50mm with me. As I said, I was on the other side of a chain-linked fence and as I tried to maneveur into position other obstructions crept into the composition. Thanks for comments.

I liked it as such; you meant a dramatic scene and it has that punch

There are some images that seem to me to be processed to a point that the photographer doesn't seem to have a command of what he or she wants to achieve. Then there are images that seem to speak what was clearly envisioned. I can never put my finger on the exact characteristics that differ between the two types of processing; I only know that some images indicate to me that the photographer didn't really know what had hoped to have been achieved and that other images indicate to me that the image turned out exactly as the photographer had hoped. This image immediately struck me as being that latter kind. The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced it's the latter kind.

I like this image very much. I feel the PP suits what was captured.

    Hi Mike,

My only reservation was on the foreground, does it add anything to the composition or could it be reduced. I think it keeps the eyes from abruptly stopping at the lower edge of the frame, but it might not appeal to some. Thanks for commenting.

I like the shot. It does have a futuristic look to it which I like. WRT the foreground, I would crop a bit off it , perhaps at a point half way between the tracks of the Komatsu, and the bottom of the frame.?
