A moment in time (C&C welcomed)
This will be my nieces' first Father's Day without my brother. As a result, I headed to Vermont (her summer job location) on Friday to visit her and give her a hug. When I saw the setting, I knew I wanted to do a large environmental portrait for her - something she could look back on and remember that moment and all the beauty that surrounded her. This is the result.

Nice shot Kim, but I would seriously consider doing a big crop. While you want this to be an environmental portrait, I'm pretty sure you can do without all that foreground. I'm pretty sure you could lose a bit along the top and sides of the image too and still preserve enough of the background to get a meaningful shot.
After all, an environmental portrait is about the person. The environment is important too, but it is not the main player at the event, after all.

Agree about cropping, subject is nicely positioned against an interesting background.

A wonderful gift from her aunt. I think you achieved what you intended. As a photographer I agree with cropping a bit. Reduced FG at least.

Thanks everyone for your comments. This prob wasn't the best one for me to post as it's meant to be viewed large. I have it set as my wallpaper on my large screen, and it's def about the rider and her horse, but also about where she was at that moment. I do have other images that are tight on the horse and my niece.
I agree the foreground crop helps -- thanks for the suggestion. I reposted the version below.
