First Photography Workshop - Advice from CiC Members
All,
So I have my first photography workshop coming up at the end of the month. It is a 5 Day workshop is Provence France. I signed up on a bit of a whim back in September just to reserve a spot, but committed to it in full last month.
As this is my first ever workshop of this type, I will admit there is a certain level of nervousness going into this endeavor. I believe this nervousness stems from trying something new and wondering if my capabilities are up to par. Frankly I feel this is normal response and I am a firm believer in nothing ventured and nothing gained. This nervousness is largely offset by my excitement to expand my skills and work with this instructor.
in preparation for the workshop, I have tried to identify the areas in which I want to focus and approach this with an open mind overall.
I am sure that many members of CiC have taken a workshop before, I would be interested in your feedback on workshops and how to maximize this opportunity.
Thanks in advance.
Erik

I'd enter into it with open eyes, coming in with certain expectations might sour you to the instructors method; however coming out of a workshop unfulfilled might have more to do with your lack of interaction or the instructors. If there are any reviews for this particular instructor then it would be better to peruse that data rather than coming into the workshop armed with advice from this forum. Just my opinion.

Erik enjoy yourself, I had been shooting for less than a year before I went on my first workshop. It was to Iceland and there were eleven of us, 5 were working pros in their fields. I was the newest photographer there, everyone was so helpful. One thing I learned early was when we stopped they all followed the workshop leader so there are 10 photographers all lined up, so I would face the opposite direction to find something different. Usually 5 minutes later the leader was setting up near me the others starting to follow, me I pick up my stuff and go to where they had been. Again enjoy yourself.
Cheers:
