Beautiful, Joe. I really prefer early morning light. The golden light on the rocks makes the difference from an ordinary to beautiful.

Shot this at Confederation Park, looking through a small gap in the bush which surrounds a pond in the park. I was about 20' back from the gap shooting through the foliage which moved with the wind and threw my auto focus into a tizzy. I tried auto and manual focus, not sure which I used for these shots. The white dots are feathers from the geese; they seem to overnight in this pond.

    ISO 200, f 6.3, 250mm, 1/15"

Good focus and exposure on what was a tricky subject.

Possibly I may be tempted to try a 4 x 5 ratio crop and lose some of the out of focus foliage to concentrate more on the bird?

So fun to take a nice image (yours) and challenge myself to apply my aesthetic to it. In this case I would suggest you consider increasing the shadows just a bit and applying a little clarity tool on the bird and its reflection. Increasing the shadows will make the bird stand out against the water to showcase it some. You might like it! If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained! Love the "revert" command!

Agree with doing some cropping so the out of focus foliage (a nice part of the image) does not compete with the bird.

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Geoff. Here is a 4x5 crop. It dos look better: I have also boosted clarity and shadows sliders.

    Taken last month at Pier 4 Hamilton. f8. 24mm 1/400" ISO 100.
I liked the colours; somewhat different from my most recent images.

Lovely composition, Joe. Perfect depth of field, everything in focus, gives good perspective. The cloud formation fits really well

I agree the cropped version makes the main focal point stand out much better.
