Good start Brian,
Looks like s/he has a few dead pixels
Now I wonder what that would look like with different illumination sources and placements, this is something I must try (I have all the kit), probably on a recently deceased specimen - I even think I know where there might be one.
If yours was alive, I am well impressed with the focus accuracy.
Cheers, Dave
Further thoughts:
We have seen how you're learned to identify and use good angles of natural light and more recently use the on camera flash (as fill or well balanced key) where this helps.
I predict your next great leap will be off camera flash, you might be able to do what I am tinkering with - a cheap off camera flash, on a cheap light stand, triggered by radio, with cheap modifier(s).
I took some a few weeks back, but haven't processed yet (a familiar thing for me ), perhaps I'll dig them out, or shoot some more this weekend.
In short, you are inspiring me to actually do something!
Thank you, Dave
Maybe a bit of noise in the background for a flash shot, otherwise fine.
Nice one.
Maybe use a larger aperture and faster shutter speed to get it pin sharp!
You can't do anything else for a live subject shot, Brian, unless you increase the Iso. I frequently use Iso 400 with no serious issues.
In fact I would be nervous of shooting a live insect slower than 1/80 and my aperture is normally F11 to F14.
Yes, you certainly are.
