    Wild Poppies Popped

I found these growing on the battlements of Conwy Castle in Wales. I've had the image for some time and it has always fallen into the category of "there's an picture in there somewhere but.........." Last night I finally came up with this colour pop (selective colour). Comments very welcome as always.

Love it, John...selective colouring is just like the explanation of HDR, some do it right and most, so far, overcook it. This one falls into the category of nicely done.

Thanks for all the comments all.

Nandakumar, opium certainly come from Poppies but not this variety. If it did , it would have long since disappeared.

It works well. A panel crop starting at the right of the first(smaller) flower extending almost to the leaves in the lower right hand corner would be interesting to see.

Thanks Dave, Paul, Matt and Binnur. Paul, couldn't quite work out what you mean but feel free to post a version. I would be interested to see it because after much playing, I'm not entirely convinced I've got the best out of this image.

John this is the sort of crop I had in mind provided you have enough pixels to play with. 90% of photography is to simplify.
I assume we will get some feed back on whether such a crop will work.

Absolutely excellent Paul. Now why didn't I think of that. Just goes to show what fresh pair of eyes will do.

Thanks John - after I had put it up my wife told me she preferred your original.... After 50 years we still disagree...

Be interesting to find out what others think.
