    Another view of 80 year old man (C&C welcomed)

    This is another image of the same man I posted last month. He will be 80 this August and still works everyday. As several people wanted to see a bit more character added to his face, and were wondering about B&W, I PPed this image differently than the other (sorry I can't add link to other - haven't figured out how to do that yet.) MOD EDIT - Here is that link, Kim

    Nicely captured, he still has that sparkle in his eyes or as much as you exposed to allow it to show through.

    Hi Kim,

    Did you dodge and burn any areas of this at all?

    If mine; I would slightly brighten the eye areas and burn to darken (slightly) the neck and shirt collar areas.

    Needs to be subtle though.

    That's really nicely done Kim. My only thought would be to pull back the highlight in the middle of his hat. Doing so would also probably recover some of the texture detail. Viewed large on a wall, I think this would be special.

    You have captured the character in his face really well but I am in agreement with both Dave's and John's comments. In toning down the bright white of the hat the eyes will need less adjustment.

    Really much prefer this one over the color version. The other is just a well done capture of an old cowboy while this one is a character study that really shows a hard life lived.

    Paul, John and Dave - thank you for your comments. I reworked the image this morning and made some subtle changes based on your comments. I believe it made it stronger -- hope you feel the same.

    There is one spot on his hat brim that had a lot of wear, or sun damage...
