While sitting on the plane...saw these...

This first one was when we were seated in first class...wonder if the rest have the same notice...both images were taken with a Point and Shoot so no need for settings notes on these quickies.

1 Can I do this while standing up???? This sign always fascinates me everytime I board a plane.

While sitting on the plane...saw these...

2 Smoke -- explanation: it was about 98F° outside hence the condensation from the aircon I think. Bill told me the reason but I forgot why this is...

While sitting on the plane...saw these...

OK comments welcome or critique if you feel like it...

Izzie, I'm always fascinated with signs and what the incidents were that required them being put where they are. These are especially humorous since they are the "captain obvious" ones. Another example of the obvious is the notification on the silica gel desiccant packets that come in some items like stereo equipment. The label says "do not eat". I wonder what lawsuit prompted that? And, I wonder who thought there would be something edible inside a box containing stereo equipment? Love your attention to detail and seeing the humor in everyday life. I can really relate to that.

    Thanks John and Brian...

Brian...I was laughing at your post here because I just opened my hoodman hoodloupe box and found the same warning...When one day I find a box of fine milk chocolate that says "Do not eat too much of this or you'll get fat!" I might choke. Life is just worth living...

Air Con condensation... Every time I would ride in an Air Force C-130 transprt plane in Vietnam with Vietnamese civilians and military - they would all panic when the air con was turned on and clouds of moisture billowed out of the a/c ducts. They thought that the plane was on fire. That is right before they all began to get air sick and vomited...

The explanation for what is happening in #2 is simple. The air temperature of the air leaving the A/C ducts is colder than the dew point of the air in the cabin (which is relatively warm), so it is condensing. This is pretty common in high humidity environments and quickly disappears after the air in the cabin cools down.

Thank you for your comments, Richard and Manfred. At least I wasn't vomitty. I was more like, fascinated. Didn't know whether I was going to take out my big camera or not. Before I knew it, it was over. I think we were seated in cattle area at the time going to Tampa...I am not sure. 'Appreciate your dropping by.

Well not exactly...Richard and Manfred explained it better than me. I was more in awe because it is the first time I saw such an occurrence. Thanks for making me work to understand and google what phantomagoric ectoplasm mean... I suspected it has something to do with ghost stuff when I broke down phanto and goric part. Breaking words makes me understand the derivation of a certain words. Thanks for passing by and giving me a hard time...LOL

With regards to superfluous signs, my pet one is the message "This Door Is Alarmed!",
I must admit to adding beneath on more than one occasion... "And the Windows are pretty Concerned as well!"

The occurrence that got my attention one night (flying in an Air Force Super Constellation - broadcasting radio and television to the Vietnamese) was Saint Elmo's Fire. Bluish gobs of whatever bouncing around the interior of the aircraft. I knew what it was and that it didn't involve any threat to my safety but, it was weird never the less

I'm gonna try this again... those warnings are aimed at the "wing walker" who is walking along the upper wing doing a visual inspection... don't step here... bad things happen.

Ah yes... the Herc... an airplane which could simultaneously freeze you and fry you... Imagine flying in the back end of one out of Winnipeg... in winter...
