Another from this mornings wander - while the weather may be a bit grim we are getting some nice (photographically speaking) sky's which with a bit of tweakery make for some dramatic images.

This has had A LOT of work done as its a strong crop and there was loads of cr*p in the foreground which I couldn't get high enough to remove when shooting so had to do in Photoshop. Its a little messier than I would have liked but it does add to the shot and almost gives the grass the feel of a rough sea - probably. Toned with my typical split of blue for the shadows and yellow for the paper/highlights and unusually for me a very simple white border.

I like this Robin - it's minimalistic and well composed. It appeals to my love of an image that contains only that which is necessary to tell your story. I can see a couple of inconsistencies from your cloning if I get up close, often unavoidable, but worth spending some time and patience on it if you are going to print it.

I also really like the loooooooong minimalistic panoramic image as a concept, and would suit a large print.

If you hadn't mentioned the split toning, I'd not have guessed.

Are the stumpy looking things new trees planted to refresh the copse, or dead trunks?

Thanks Simon - I never print so this like much of my output is rather transient. Thats not to say I don't care about them as I love the very process of taking and making images. The cloning is rough but I do kind of like the rough, that said if I were to print or it it were for someone then yes I'd take your point and spend more time.

Dave I'm not sure, looking at it I think they are new trees in the plastic tubes they use to keep animals from damaging them - its a golf course so likely new planting to form a windbreak or just look nice.

A superb composition and wonderfully worked in terms of processing. This reminds that a lot of us define ourselves in terms of making an image rather than taking a photograph.
