I cannot get the sense of what Quasimoto means even if I had googled it. The only thing I got as a description has something to do with the back. Why that title here?

Anyway, I like this shot, although it would have been nice to see the expression on his face.

In the classic movie, 'Hunchback of Notre Dame', Charles Laughton played the hunchback. He was always crouched over in a position that vaguely looked like this guy.

And there you have it..the expression on his face wasn't the shot, it was the position he was in as he attempted to master the wave. Surfers can come up with some of the most incredible facial and hand expressions as they make their way across the face of a wave.

Good sharp capture, Chris, but I think it needs a bit more space to include some of the board's wake and give it context. I'm not sure whether this guy is moving left or right, or side-slipping

He was making a hard cutback on a small, underpowered wave. I had to crop tightly because of all the other surfers around him...it's a major crop and if it wasn't for the pose, it would have made the rubbish bin...

I usually try to do as you suggested...

My house in Melbourne is across Port Philip Bay but when I want to go see the surfers, it has to be in an open sea, like over in Geelong. So I am really familiar to watching surfers with my kids, just that I will not think of taking a shot of this position when the head is turned the other way. Good idea. Not bad...and I learned something, this time a new word: quasimoto. Thanks.
