It only took a couple of dozen tries

I have, up until today, failed repeatedly to get a good shot of a pair of Goldfinch's that have been coming to our back yard feeder. They've been showing up at different times of the day and aren't there long enough to grab my camera from the back room and get some shots off. I've left my camera on the table all ready and they still have eluded me. The shots I have gotten are bad either because they are out of focus or I was too late with the shutter button and they looked away. So, today, for whatever reason, this one finally settled down long enough for me to get these two shots. I've deleted probably 20+ shots just to get these two. The lighting was just about right also.

Brian...your persistence paid off -- I like the last one. I have that kind of feeder before with a cloth but it made a lot of mess so I gave that one up. Our finches here on the orange and brown colour and I like the colour of finches your way...

We also get the the orange ones called Grossbeaks. They are bigger than the Goldfinches. We occasionally have purple finches (which are red) and several other little ones I haven't identified yet. It's always a surprise as to what's going to show up next, which is why I try to keep my camera handy.

I am not always successful like that...we got two yellow little birdies last week on one our sunflowers and Bill called me to get my camera and it was gone even before I appeared to look at it behind the door of my deck. It haven't seen it therefore it does not exists.
