    I prefer to shoot them doing something other than sitting or standing, unless in that act they are doing something besides just looking pretty. Action shots are far more challenging to shoot both for detail and exposure but overall, birds are my favorite wildlife species.

    I do not know who between Geoff and John 2, but I think it is John 2, that once said that in the UK, the award winning bird shots are those which do show actions, funny, if possible.

    I find that to be true for the most part as I have never won a competition with a static shot. However, the ones I sell the most are those more static. Photo customers are an odd sort.

    Chris...why is there a difference between the bills? One is yellow and the other one is reddish...do you know? Just curious...

    The larger Egret on the right is known as a Great Egret while the smaller, yellow footed, black billed one is called a Snowy Egret. The Snowy is significantly smaller than the Great Egret which is more the size of a Great Blue Heron.
