    More from a Black House

In my previous Arnol Blackhouse thread (LINK) I made reference to another Blackhouse site which we visited whilst we were on the Western Isles.
These images are from a Blackhouse village. This village as well as the museum has holiday accommodation.
Apparently these holiday homes were still in use as family homes as late as the 1970's.

#4 As you will see this house has a real chimney and fireplace, complete with a stand for the kettle!. Unlike the one in my Arnol Blackhouse thread where the kettle just hung above a fire in the middle of a stone floor. The kettle stand reminded me of a little ditty (from a very long time ago) we would recite when we met up with friends on bicycles, so the kettle stand had to be captured for posterity .

I've flipped this image to make it easier for you to to read the lettering. The ditty/phrase went like this "Ride a Raleigh ride a wreck, Ride a Hercules break your neck"

PS. It seems that the above images have sharpening issues due to me downsizing them from my Flickr photostream

Interesting place...but my head kept asking -- where is the bedroom?!?? I like the view from the house...did you get to stay in one of these places? Just out of curiousity...you knew I would ask, did you?

We were staying in a hotel Izzie. From memory the bedroom was behind me in the interior image. I've probably got an image of it somewhere.
Here's a link to the village accommodation web site.

It's probably too far away from you though, I doubt Bills plane would have the ability to reach it, especially with all your suitcases More from a Black House

With what is happening in Europe these days, we do not intend to go outside of the country very soon. There is a lot to see here in the US. Wedding anniversary soon in a couple of months so I am making plans for a road trip to Maine for my lobsters and photography. I will get my camera by then...
