It was very hard light (shot through a snoot, at full power), with just a touch of fill from a large softbox overhead. I'm going to see if a tight grid gives me a better result sometime soon.

Perceptions are a hard thing to comprehend though ... I think she's a photographer's dream to shoot ... others agree that the difference between her on the cover of a magazine and a celebrity on the cover of a magazine is approx zero ... and she doesn't think that she looks good in photos! Ah well, at least I won't have to pay her as much until she gets a supermodel mindset!

It's that thing about her loving the camera and the camera loving her.

I don't know if you 'people shooters' subscribe to that idea. It's more than just being comfortable and being at ease with a lens sticking in your face. I'm not sure if anyone has ever described it or defined what the characteristicas are of the person who is 'loved by a camera'. But if it exists, then this young lady certainly has it.
