Two views of honeybees in echinacea
This has been a very bad year for many bugs in these parts, including most pollinators, but things are finally looking up. I was out a few times trying to get some shots of native bees--I've seen maybe 5 or 6 species in our garden so far--but I didn't get any decent ones. Wasn't helped by fairly strong breezes. However, I did get a couple of honeybees while trying.
C&C welcome as always. My usual bug rig: 7D, 100mm L macro with 36mm extension, diffused flash, f/13, 1/125, processed only in LR.

I'd be delighted with a couple this good Dan.
To be hypercritical, it would have been nice to have the wing tips in the first, but can't have everything.

I like the first one but you clipped his wings.... The insect community will go down hard on you real hard for doing this...

Re: Two views of honeybees in echinacea
Thanks, all. Dave and Izzie: I agree. My goal was to have the bee toward the top to get more of the whorl of the flower, but I couldn't place it accurately. The flower was waving in the wind, and I was trying to move the camera to get focus. The in-focus shots weren't ideally framed. I'll try again later this week if they are still there.
