Herewith I am sharing one pic which was taken at a waste disposal site of my city. Here I have tried to show case the area, which is adjacent to the city and where the life is totally different.

It is a sad commentary on a way of life all to familiar in a "civilized" world. If we took all the money spent on war and put it to the production of food, shelter and clothing, this scene would cease to exist.

If there is anything left in the sky, it would be nice to see it darkened a bit more to keep it from drawing the eye away from the people.

Good documentary image.

Great shot!
However, I might add some global contrast to divide the three subjects from the middle and background. I also cropped a tad from the sky and tried to level the road (I could have done a better job at that). I also burned in the sky a bit and burned in the sack at the bottom image right which was bright enough to steal some of my attention.



I wonder if you might offer a collection of your "working poor" images to a local newspaper or magazine. They are certainly of the quality that this might be reasonable and might just get you an assignment Another thought might be a display in a gallery...

Actually I have not shared this pic on any social media or photography forums before.The reason is I personally don't like to show others the unpleasant part of the world. We do photography for our pleasure n we can also share happiness through it. (Absolutely my personal thinking ).

I agree with Donald... I don't like to exploit persons who have a harder life than I could ever conceive of. However, IMO, this is a photo journalistic image that transcends my feelings against exploitation...

I think I had taken this pic (other shots of this place) with same thinking. . I was hesitating sharing those, but will share those too to get review (from photography aspect).

Quite a nice shot.
I would suggest that you crop down and remove the sky so that brighness doesn't have a place to go.
Darken the foreground and some of the background to make the figures more prominent and increase the oppressive feeling.



Having the older woman in a closer spot might have given a tighter composition.

Thanks a lot for your review. Cropping the sky - ahaa... I was expecting something on this. I also tried that crop but then left it as thought of giving feel of closeness of this place to the city where we live, unaware about such corner of the city or we never try to know.

Placement of the older man, yes wish, I could have got him near by.

Exactly. that is the narrative of the image. That's what makes it the powerful social documentary image that it is. This is not a piece of fine art, it is not seeking to be. It is a commentary. A statement. Having the background as it is is surely an essential part of the image.
