I think that this image says something... I shot the photo on Veteran's Day 2013 and was just reminded of it due to some disparaging things that are being said about persons of Hispanic heritage in this country...



This is Hispanic Heritage, the Diaz family with three generations of service in our Army: World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

I was proud to have met them and to have been allowed to photograph them...

My Great-great-great Grandfather was a Mexican Citizen. He never crossed any border to come to the USA, instead the border crossed him. He settled on a Mexican Landgrant in South Texas (which was then owned by Mexico) in 1829. That area became part of the Republic of Texas and then part of the United States.

BTW: my G-g-g-grandfather was Irish, born in Ireland. His name was Felix Hart and his brother, my G-g-g Uncle, Timothy Hart, signed the Texas Declaration of Independence at Goliad. I have a copy of the Original Mexican Landgrant Declaration as well as a copy of the Declaration of Independence.. As a result of my family settling in Texas at that time, I am eligible to join The Sons of the Republic of Texas.

I have not done so but, would if I lived in Texas!
