Yeah, needed to shallow dof blur out the tourists in the back ground and that the price to pay!

It also wasn't a scene that stood still for long, I wanted the guy not looking at me, and the cat looking.

The local docks at Matosinhos had an open day!

I took so many shots !!

Hard to decide... I went with this one. As it's possible the least "just" (SIC) reportage one of the day

(I'll share all the 'runner ups' at the end!)

For entry #40, I managed to find a place I hadn't found before (this is becoming increasingly difficult - Porto isn't really a vast city, and what I like to shoot is quite narrow in range)

This image scored a runner up (and magazine feature) in a competition.

But I'll show you the 'outtakes' in the final Q3 post. I daresay some of you will prefer the outtakes.. I was hard choosing myself! Still that's a nice position to be in (having a few images you like)

There's some chance that I'll substitute this one...

I like it (...) but I've several images with this theme, I mean it's a theme I like, so IMO no shame in sticking with what you know and like... but also variety/spice of life and all that...

I like this one partly for the processing but mainly for the patterns. Nicely seen, timed, and processed.

Entry #40, very rich colors and nice composition.

Nice series from the outtakes, I can see little issues with a few but nothing that wouldn't make me consider some of these for other ventures.

Many of the docks ones were taken from a moving tour bus, which didn't help matters!

It's been 3 months with the X-Pro2 (I had the X-Pro1 before) and I've not regretted it at all, which is fortunate as I had to move financial heaven and earth to buy it!

I'm actually trying to cure my wide open addiction :) some of these were actually F8 !!

But when the scene suits, and the planets align, and you get an image with just the right amount of subject separation it's a look I'm very fond of.

Comparitive DOF is often cited as a reason why FF is superior to APS (and obv shallow DOF can be 'superior' on FF per given apertures) and I did ask myself if I really needed to shoot with yet another APS camera...

But I actually like that you can seperate the subject, yet not completely annihilate the back ground with APS, so you can still have context! Besides I especially like that fast APS lenses needn't be the size of thermos flasks :D

(Before any one chimes in.... yes I have a working understanding of equivalence between sensor sizes, and that DOF is governed by composition, subject distance and lens length as well as aperture)
