    Cindy Sherman exhibition

The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane is currently exhibiting photographs by Cindy Sherman. She is a well known photographer who has specialised over the last few decades in dressing up as different characters, or character types, and photographing herself. They are important as much as social commentaries as pure photographs.

When I go to an art gallery or museum, I find that the people attending are as interesting as the art. These are a couple of examples.

    3. When my wife saw the picture of the museum building across the road from GOMA, she said it needed a figure above the parapets in the style of Jeffrey Smart, who was a painter well know in Australia but perhaps not so much elsewhere. I decided that Cindy would do well up there.

I have never heard of her before. Think I will look her up on google to see more of her work. Nice captures by the way and I agree that there are sometimes some interesting people that visit art galleries.

Tony I like what you've done with the viewers in these. Great shots, well done.

Great juxtapositions. I just love the entire color palette of the first one. Do you by any chance have a version of the second one that displays both the portrait and the live person in focus?

    Thanks for the comments.

Mike, that was one of those occasions, all too frequent, when I did not think enough about what I was doing. My only excuse was that the light wasn't very good and when people are moving you have to grab the moment. The short answer to your question is no.

Yes, I agree..there is art everywhere, especially in the museum. You did very well capturing these. I like #1. That viewer's attire and hair is really interesting, more than the art on the wall. The second one resembles the one in the picture, pretty interesting resemblance. Well the third, how did you manage that one?
