    What a wise man!
There rarely seems to be a sculpture at hand when needed.

Shooting for black and white, or at least with the intention of processing for black and white in my case, does at least enhance my photography experience as I now consider light, shadow, tone and texture as components in any image. I will often stop and consider whether a scene will work in black and white. It is a bit of a learning curve but worth the effort as it is another arrow in your quiver.

At the risk of becoming a victim of another piece of sculpture
I could (tongue in cheek) suggest the following ...

Much like the theory that photographers that state "I only shoot available light, it is so much better than flash" do so because they don't know how to shoot flash, it could be suggested that photographers that eschew colour don't know how to use colour in a composition.

Now that is 'wrong', or at least inappropriate, on so many levels.

Colour has its place in some photos (e.g. this one), yet is unhelpful when capturing other scenes - and since to our individual colour perceptions differ, not to mention viewing conditions, what looks good to some may look less so to others.
Just as (say) great portraits, can be shot in both available or with flash/artificial light (be that entirely or a mixture with available/ambient light).

Great shot Trevor, sorry I digress.

    Cheers, Dave

Everyone's been here before me and had said everything I wanted to say, the beauty of your shot, including the muskrat. One day, when you got tired of serious photography, you'd do very well as a comedian. I enjoyed that story very much. And if you run out of sculptures, you think a a big rock will do?

Sorry, not one of the masses. I like the composition but I am reluctant to admit that the saturation is a bit strong for me just in case you have an Oscar or a similar statue close at hand. Where are the moderators when you need them?

P.S. You will note I took the added precaution of adding this comment while you were asleep....

I respect your opinion, probably shared by quite a few, and confess this is not natural. I went for impact rather than veracity. I flipped back and forth between the original RAW and this version just now. Still have a personal preference for this one. Accomplishes what I want.

As for being brained for expressing a contrary opinion. You are safe as I am rarely violent in a civil discussion of opinions. You will just have to live with the burden of being wrong.

You mean you did post processing work and applied artistic vision (and some skill) to create an image that you saw in your head .... which may not have been exactly what was in the sky in front of you?

I'm sorry, but an emergency session of the High Council of CiC will be convened, just as soon as the Business Class seats are the 5-star hotel reservations are confirmed. This is likely to lead to very heavy penalties.

I suggest we hold the disciplinary hearing at someplace photogenic (despite your weakness for monochrome sky and land, the Hermaness Cliffs on Skye in February are not on the list). If memory serves, the last fine levied was five times the annual fee for CIC membership.

And I thought all along we only have floggings instead of fines... especially for those heavy-handed in using colours...

I wonder if I would be allowed to flog some of Trevor's gear?
