Broadstairs Viking Bay
This is a view of the Victorian seafront at Broadstairs in Kent, taken from the top of the cliff overlooking the harbour. It's very busy, but that's the intention - I've tried to compose at the thirds with structures as I would a less detailed image, and it has many points of interest to catch the eye. Does it work as a concept, or is it too much? The intention would be to print or display it big.
I know the lighting is flat - I took what was there on a busy family day out. Ideas to improve this are welcomed but I think it's a wait for the light situation, although you have to catch the light AND the families. Of course, all other comments are welcomed.

What is meant to be busy, has to be busy...so this goes really well!!!

Re: Broadstairs Viking Bay
This is really broadly speaking a shot that documents the area. It's not (probably) going to have a lot of emotional appeal to the broader audience, but nicely sets the scene for more detailed photography in and around the place. In cinematography this would be referred to as an "establishing shot" that opens either the film or the scene.

Re: Broadstairs Viking Bay
As previously mentioned, this is a 'busy' scene because it is a busy place but I wouldn't want to crop any tighter.
Good exposure and focus.

I see three layers and the background is the most interesting; the foreground not so much.

Re: Broadstairs Viking Bay
I like to study shots such as this and take in all the minutiae, plenty to see.
The only thing compositionally that 'bothers' me is the dark mass of the seaweed covered steps in the lower left area, I'd be happier if they weren't there, but cropping off the left side isn't an option and I hesitate to suggest cloning them out in what is basically a documentary shot.
No answers, just a random thought.

I was thinking it will be better looking without that greenish thing at the left hand side. I would also suggest cropping a bit off the bottom.
