Run child
I'm hoping to capture a dark mood with this one. I know the processing won't be to everyone's taste but I've tried to use grain and heavy shadow to add to the feel of the image.

Re: Run child
This kind of treatment is done far too often and far too badly in my opinion.
But not in this case.
I really like it. Not sure about the tilt. Would have to live with it for a day or so to decide.
Regardless, this image shows a personality which clearly suits the subject. Well done.

Re: Run child
The upper region looks too inviting for a dark mood, but then perhaps that is the real danger. Nice effort.

Re: Run child
Two thoughts cross my mind with regard to the intended mood, Simon.
1) The four (modern) circular reflectors/signage spoil any timelessness* the image might otherwise invoke - I'd clone them out.
2) If the tilt were 'downhill' for her, I wonder if it might give a greater feeling of 'loss of control'; rushing headlong in to danger' - although your title suggests she's running away from danger, so perhaps I'm on the wrong wavelength.
* given the 'olde' style border - mind you, the 'twee' pointed post caps arguably then present an issue in this respect too - and then we (I) might, taking things too seriously, suggest that design of dress is too modern.
See what you started!
Cheers, Dave
Good to try something different and I applaud your inventiveness

Re: Run child
This is what photography is about-having fun and perhaps even creating something new. I agree with Dave though. Get rid of the reflectors.
Cheers Ole

Re: Run child
Thanks for the feedback - I might try reducing the top left highlights and really focussing on her running away. The tilt was done in camera, so it's not easy to change it now unless content aware suddenly became psychic! The white reflectors should be removable in PS using clone stamp but I may struggle on my iPad (although Snapseed content aware heal is actually better at edges than the PS one in my experience).
It's fun to take an idea and see what you can do - and very different to my usual daughter portraits! No toddlers were actually scared in the making if this image.

I like the shot...it is actually like film of the old or a scene from Freddy's Nightmare...
