A few more images from an afternoon spent wandering around in this part of Lithuania. on a whirlwind tour my daughter and I had in the Baltic States this past May.
Klaipeda is a seaport city and the third largest city in Lithuania. It sits just a few kilometers / miles from the Russian border (Kaliningrad) and the Curonian Spit is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just a short ferry ride across the Curonian Lagoon.
1. The sand dunes of the Curonian Spit and the Baltic Sea looking towards the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast, which starts not far past the tower in the image.
2. The border between Lithuania and Russia.
3. This fox was watching us....
4. This small car and passenger ferry is the way one gets from Klaipeda to the Curonian Spit. The spit can be seen in the background.
5. A few NATO minesweepers seem to be in port.
6. The container port takes up a lot of the waterfront in Klaipeda.
