God's Own County

Out and about in Yorkshire today for work - with my camera in the boot of the car just in case I got the chance to pull over and grab some pictures...

The weather was very overcast with drizzle in the air but it gave a lovely soft feel to the scene. A timeless view in many respects so I left the cars in just give it a little modern touch:



There are churches dotted all over the area, this was in a tiny village called East Witton. Nice thing is country churches tend not to be locked as there are no vandals about to spoil things:



...and a bit of colour:

Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in fields of gold



All in all a canny day work wise and a few nice pictures to boot.

Any day that one can produce 3 such beautiful images is a good day. It has been quit some time since I have been to Yorkshire, always loved the countryside there.

Its an hour or so away but I rarely go - something I need correct as its such a beautiful part of our country.

Great images Robin. We have family in Yorkshire and I'm up there at the end of the month, I'll be hoping for plenty of photo opportunities whilst there, not to mention a trip to the West Yorkshire camera shop in Leeds to ogle at glass I can't afford.

All three of these are wonderful. Out of interest, what programme(s) do you use for your mono conversions?

I do most of the heavy lifting with Nik SEP2 which I've used for a while now and have a few of my own pre-sets saved then typically finish off with Photoshop as I spent years in a wet darkroom and still like to work an image using the dodge/burn tools to enhance areas.

A man after my own heart. I still occasion into my darkroom and print a few, although against Dr's orders, but I do wear gloves and a mask...but I have to venture in ever so often just to get that kick of watching the image emerge from the developer. There is no other emotional connection like it in the world, save perhaps your first kiss.

The stone walls are I think as much a necessity of where to put all those stones dug up as they tilled the land for crops. I have to favor #1 but all are lovely shots.

2) Love this conversion for the B/W all sharp from front to back.
3) That cloud is foreboding. 'Hope you did not get wet.

The cars are on the far right just above the dark area of field. I got drizzled on throughout the day but only when walking to and from the car for appointments with clients.

However, being originally from over the border on the other side of the Penines, I can't go along with the title . If God had chosen a county, he surely wouldn't have populated it with Yorkshiremen (puts on tin hat)
