    Izzie made me do it!

A couple weeks ago, we had a particularly gnarly storm move through just to the north. I was fortunate in that the worst of it missed me by about 20 miles, I did get caught in torrential rain though. Izzie inquired about my well-being. The storm spawned a couple twisters, one of which tore up a town west of me. The real damage was caused by the rainfall and straight line winds, several lives were lost due to trees falling and raging rivers.

It being my birthday, I dragged the wife and dog to Interstate State Park to attempt to capture the raging St Croix River. It was somewhat sobering to be scrambling on slippery rocks as search and rescue tried to find a photographer whom fell in the night before.

During normal flow, there is a small 10' waterfall under the bridge. It is completely gone with the flood waters.

While in the park, I could not resist a few more sedate shots

I've never found a photo opportunity that was worth my life and been around some that nearly cost me my life just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or that I am still here in the right place at the wrong time (airshow crash that got the people to my left).

I have so many times witnessed photographers stretch out on a limb, or test the edge of a canyon precipice and wondered if the card would survive when they finally reached bottom; at least there would be something to show for their Darwinistic behavior.

You have to include the calm with the storm to balance out the series, otherwise you are just presenting the negatives and everyone wants a few positives. Nice series, that boulder scramble looks dangerous especially with a long leash involved. Like the butterfly shot best, great color capture.

The boulder scramble looks more dangerous than it really was, more of a case of finding a place to step without twisting an ankle. The real shocker is that she was five days into recovery from a hysterectomy

    Randy,

Nice images. I was in Wyoming when the storm hit the TC area.

Randy...I was disappointed in that I would have thought you'd find the body of the photographer...nothing there, I looked and looked too...Or did you remove it in pp to tone your shots down to a desirable taste...? I thought that yellowish thingie in #1 is the 'body'...That was quite some raging waters...my...my...!!!

OK...blame me, but I like that sobering shots of your butterfly compared to my scare for Judy slipping with Bailey...Darn! that woman of yours is always be daring and adventurous...!!! And Bailey is too small to hold her down...

It was at the point of our exploration that we decided that we are both getting way too old to be doing sh*t like this.....
