Dendrobium Thyrsiflorum
OK, that is a tongue twister, and you still are wondering what it is. How about: Pinecone-like Raceme Dendrobium (probably not much better). It is native to the Himalayas and the mountains of northern Indochina. Taken at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew.

Nice looking flower even if it is unpronounceable.

Re: Dendrobium Thyrsiflorum
Very nice. I used to grow one of those. Even the cold growing Himalayan Orchid couldn't stand an unusual winter frost.
"Pinecone-like Raceme" That is describing the inflourescence (type of flower stalk). It hangs down from a pseudobulb like a pinecone.

Botanist/scientist like James Edwards are the kind of people you'd hate to be with when they mouthed out those kinds of names... Anyway, nice shot. It is good to know some other information about it...
