Provence: Street Photography

If this isn't my only street photography from my recent trip to Provence, it's surely my best. I wasn't even trying to do street photography. I was thinking about how to frame the scene and whether the scene was worth capturing when the young woman walked into it, became aware of me, and momentarily turned toward me. A second later she was no longer looking at me.

I like the framing. Lucky that the woman strayed into the shot to complete the diagonal from table to menu. The blacks in the lower left of the frame (under the table and chair) seemed to be a bit blocked - maybe it is just my monitor, though. Otherwise, nice conversion.

It's an interesting scene in it's own right Mike but the inclusion of the young lady really makes the shot. The timing of her glance is spot on - she has a very "french" look in her eyes! (if that makes any sense)

I love this image, I suppose because I love France. It captures everything about a particular way and style of living. I can feel the warmth and smell the atmosphere.

It has all of the elements Mike. The dark interior gives some recession, there is human interest, eye contact and it could be anywhere except the menus provide an exact context. The mono also works but I guess, so would the colour. I can see why you think well of it. Great capture.

P.S. as a retrospective minor thought, it might be worth taking a little of the glare off he arch.

Nicely captured, you can't tell whether she is a server or a patron. The area looks dangerous to work in or imbibe with the different elevations.

The primary reason I converted to monochrome is that the young woman's pink shorts so nicely complement the pink tablecloths and seat cushions that the combination detracts from the look in her eyes.

Very nice image, Mike. I agree that she adds to the photo and the look from her adds also.

I have no experience in "street" photography and was reading just the other day about techniques for doing it. One that stood out was to find a spot, frame it and wait for the subjects to come into the space. This illustrates how well that can work!

Excellent shot Mike I can see that you uploaded some other images when I was absent. I'm so tired because of moving to another city that I will look at them later . I have missed CinC so much and I hope I will be online everyday as I'm not busy with looking for a new place to live anymore.
