Innovation is the name of the game
Hello all. Have not been around for a while and have not yet fallen off me perch! But I thought you all deserved a well earned rest from my somewhat boring frivolity.
One of the things that strikes me is that with so much shutter bugging going on all around us there is an ever increasing struggle to come up with something fresh and innovative, something which has not already been done to death by others. Well I thought these might be a bit innovative. I even dared to opine it was probably a once in a life time experience.
So, what is all this malarky about? This morning I was in a lovely sleep when Possum woke me with a bark, demanding to be let out for her morning run. Mrs Ucci slept on regardless, totally oblivious to the Clarion call. As I was staggering out the back door to let Possum out, from the corner of my eye I saw a bit of a shadow pass across me. Tried to work out what it was. When I looked down I saw that this little fellow had taken up residence on the belt of my dressing gown. It seemed quite happily ensconced and there for the long haul. So I walked back through the house, roused my sleeping beauty, and had her get her camera and follow me back outside for a photo. All through this the little fellow just sat there happily. So Mrs ucci took these shots. Was she amazed at this unusual incident? No! Nothing phases my good Lady. Took it all in her stride. Her only reaction was, "Why are you wearing your grotty old dressing gown? At least you could be wearing your better one!"
Anyway, some of you might appreciate that this subject could be considered a bit innovative, I hope.
Oh, for those of you who give a tinker's curse about these things. The technical details are a follows. The subject was a Yellow rumped thornbill, one of our very smallest finches. The camera was Mrs Ucci's Canon sx50. Its settings she will not even divulge to me. She is like that. One good thing about using birds as photographic models is that they often come cheep. At the end of the session I gently released him onto a nearby Lavender bush, from which he darted off into the wild blue yonder, and we went in for a spot of brekky.
Bye for now.

The difficult things about photographing birds are getting them to stay still when you are close and getting a good background. Mrs Ucci has done a fine job of photography taking advantage of the good conditions.
It is interesting that we have identified one of these birds around here recently, but not so intimately, except I thought ours was the buff-rumped thornbill.

Ken that's a cute little bird and Mrs Ucci has done well to capture the closeups with such clarity.
But listen mate, you've got to do something about your wardrobe. You can't be serious wearing a dressing gown like that
Good story though!

Well, I can't say 'nicely captured' Ken, because you let it go.
Well done to you and Mrs Ucci for making the most of the situation and being able to show us your pre-brekky antics.

Such a fun series. That little bird seems to be very content on his "perch". Mrs. Ucci, thanks for getting up and allowing us to have a smile
