    Cradle Mountain fur photo's

We have all seen the wonderful images of Dove lake at Cradle Mountain, (just look it up on the interweb) and I submitted one to a mini comp but I really don't have the talent to do it justice. However last week Cindy and I went up there for a few days and the greatest enjoyment I had was taking photo's of the wildlife.
Here are a few of my favourites.
    Greg.

A wombat, what we call a bush bulldozer here

A couple of shots of a young Wallaby

And my favourite Aussie beastie, the Brush Tail Possum. While I was taking this photo a younger one was tugging at my jeans leg for more apple

A lovely set of images. I don't think I've ever seen a wombat before.

Look at the claws on that. Vicious! What's it's 'normal' diet; i.e. when there are no togs about giving them apple?

Thanks Donald, We had a great time If I wasn't feeding apples to the possums they would survive on gum leaves, flowers, shoots, fruits and small insects

Like them all Greg but the wombat appeals most. Am I right in thinking that they are not as cuddly as they look?

Thanks John, if bred in captivity they can be handled and the young ones would be cuddly, the adults would be like cuddling a bag of cement they are a very solid animal. Wouldn't try to cuddle one in the wild, they might get a bit grumpy

Greg I think you are being too modest I really enjoyed that image.

The ones in this thread are also very enjoyable, you have some good catches here. I think your comments about cuddling a wombat are pretty much spot on!

    Thanks John, thanks Dave.
Dave I guess what I mean about not being able to do it justice is that unless nature puts on something spectacular for you weather wise it is difficult to come up with an image that hasn't been done a thousand times and with limited time there I only had one chance.
I was hoping for a bit of morning sunlight on the top of the mountain but it was very overcast so no go there.
It is an image I am happy with but as always there is room for improvement.
Here it is for those that haven't seen it.

Greg I've only been there once some time ago and the weather wasn't kind to us at all. I would think that the weather there is very "hit and miss".

    Exactly Dave, so changeable.
They say here in Tassie if you don't like the weather, come back in an hour. It's even more unpredictable in the highlands, many people have got themselves into trouble being caught up in bad weather up there
