I don't have experience on the G11, but have done it on an A540. According to the developers it should be the same process.
The CHDK site has a good quick runthrough of how to do it --http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_in_Brief. It is a straight forward and easy process (from my own experience).
