    Honey I'm Home

Our local mainline station is right next door to one of the major department stores and so when ever my wife takes her credit card for a bit of exercise, I sometimes wander down onto the platforms with a camera. The station is being "upgraded" and as a result seems to have come out in a rash of Kodak Red. These are three that I thought worth posting from the other morning.

Trains came and went but this gentleman was still reading his paper. I think he just preferred the station to the local park.

    Good set there Dave,

I particularly like the first (shutter speed choice?), but aside from a slight feeling the top of #2 is cropped a bit tight, they're all good.

Everything works so very well in the first one: perspective, depth of field, exact position of the man on the phone lifting his suitcase, the sign above him, the colors of the train complimenting the color of the handrails on the staircase, the shutter speed stopping the man's action while at the same time allowing the train to display speed. Great story told exceptionally well!

Thanks all for the comments. I have one or two for later that have been PP'd into a more graphic presentation.

The first could be named disabled access and it is my favourite.

First and second images are stunning. The first is so dramatic and your shutter speed was spot on for that. The second is dramatic to say the least, a red bike in a dull grey city. Top notch.

As Dave said .... the final shot just "cements" them all together

All good ones, John but I prefer #3 – the man is oblivious to the sights and sounds. It feels like he has found that corner of his world so peaceful. Some people find silence too deafening some like hustles and bustles but like a teenager on his/her cellphone, the surrounding doesn't matter. What matters is that no one intrudes their moment.

I'm as impressed as everyone else by these images. Each is a wonderful image and they would work wonderfully, along with 9 or 10 others, as a project that was about this particular railway station.

Just beautifully thought-out and crafted images. It's obvious that there was nothing 'accidental' or 'lucky' about these images. Superb composition is the basis of three excellent images.

    Honey I'm Home

Love the first two John, the compositions are excellent!

Edit: and the 3rd! I love the way the guy is so enthralled in his paper that he's oblivious to everything around him Honey I'm Home

    Thanks Izzie.

Thanks Donald. At one time until I lost interest, I had visions of using the station and it's traffic as the basis of an ARPS submission. It's such a rich source of potential subjects.

Thanks Matt, thanks Binnur and thanks Carol.
